I have lewitzer mare, which will be in riding age in September, she'll be a yearling in a couple of weeks. I'd like to do something with her, but Finnish shows for foals are very rare. If I have understood right, there are many kinds of disciplines/classes to enter with a foal. I'd be happy, if someone could tell about the showing possibilities of foals in their country. I'm open for all kinds of ideas and willing to hear new ways to compete with a foal Otherwise her, and for many other foals in future, the first few years (months) will be mostly standing in the stable.

WEll in North America we have 'Prospect' classes, which are usually for weanlings, yearlings and sometimes 2yo's. They a basically just a halter class. WE do have a Prospect Association over at SAI thats just for the youngsters. I know that the Dressage show held here has a dressage prospect class. Hope that helps you out a little!

In Germany there are more activities for foals, sometimes more, sometimes less, but I have no idea how to translete all these classes... one is show jumping without a rider, that's quite popular, and "GHP" which stands for "Gelassenheitsprüfung", which is a class where the horse has to show how calm it reacts to certain things, like umrellas or balls. Then there are different named classes at halter, where going figures in a hall or place or outside and through water etc. is wanted, but well they are no disciplinces, just classes the owner of the stable created. And we also have competitions in longing (no idea if I formed the word correctly), with is very good for horses at the age of 2 or 3 years.

I could try to host a show for foals, that "free-jumping", without rider. We have them very seldom, and I've never seen any kind of foal halter classes... Maybe I should try to be the first (:
