I've found a big problem in breeding between riding ponies internationally. In Finland, a riding pony cannot be registered, if it hasn't got a complete information in its pedigree of every single breed its pedigree consists of. That means I can't register a pony, if it sais only it's sire and dam are riding ponies too. People here want to make sure that registered riding ponies really are riding ponies, not just pony crossings.
Nowhere else in the world the bloodline information is needed. That's what makes it problematic to breed with e.g. a rp from Germany. It has no information of its breed lines, and all its progeny is priceless in Finland as none of their offspring and their offspring can be registered because of this missing information.
Some people in Finland, including me, think that the registery system shouldn't be so strict on ponies from foreign countries, as we shouldn'r require them to have bloodline information just because of the fact that Finns want them to. We also think that registering shouldn't be so absolutely realistic that it makew a barrier in breeding with foreign ponies. Then there are those ones, who want to keep it strict and give no mercy for foreign ponies, because they "ruin the pedigrees" as they have no sure information of whether they really can be considered as riding ponies and not just random pony crossings. They say we should inform you others about our way of marking breed lines and "teach you to mark them correctly for your ponies".
What I'm now doing is informing you about this. I wouldn't say to literally teach you how you should deal with your sim horses, because everyone jas the power to decide themselves, but a small request, or suggestion, I have. It would be very nice, if everyone who has a riding pony with no linked, existing pedigree, could make up some breed information in the pedigree. Like "ok, the sire could be a holsteiner, and let's make the dam a connemara pony" etc. and then just write under the names of the horses what breeds do they represent. I think it takes no big effort to decide a breed for the dam and the sire, and your riding pony would be more desired for breeding with Finnish ponies then.
No one is unconditionally required to do this, and of course if you horse has a long linked pedigree, you don't need to start playing with the breeds. I know we can't rule the sim world just like Finns like it, but because riding pony breeding in Finland is a bit complicated and international co-operation between riding pony breeders would profit of this, I'd appreciate very much if someone would start to mark pedigree lines for their ponies.
Thank you for reading this all and hope you understood my point! : --)
